Juicing 101 : Apple + Ampalaya + Carrot + Cucumber

Juicing is the fastest way to ingest several vegetables in one sitting. Imagine 3 or 4 vegetables eaten in one gulp. Of course, eating veggies is still the recommended way. But, for most people living in the fast-paced lifestyle in the Metro, eating the recommended 5-6 servings of vegetables daily is quite a challenge.






So, I want to share this simple juice recipe I experimented a few weeks ago. This is called Bittersweet Delight. The ingredients needed are the following. 2 pcs small apples 1/2 medium bittergourd or ampalaya 2 pcs small carrots 1/2 medium cucumber For juicing, I am using the Breville Juicer.

 The model I have is the Ikon Froojie Juice Fountain  http://breville.com.ph/beverage/froojie-juice-fountain. I had this juicer for almost a year now (it's June 5, 2012 now) and what I like about this juicer are two things : ease of juice and functionality.






Before I start juicing, I sliced the ampalaya into half and removed the flesh and seeds.  Also, be sure to wash all the vegetable and fruits.  No need to peel off the skin of the vegetables for the Breville juicer.









 I put all the ingredients into the wide chute. The diameter of the chute is a big 84mm. Notice that I put the entire apple into chute.








Here's the final product - almost 300mL of pure vegetable juice! 




Final Product
For someone who is starting to go juicing, I suggest that you put less of the vegetables that you don't like and more of the vegetables that you like.  The purpose is to enjoy first the taste of your juice.  As you get used to the juicing process, you can start adding vegetables that you don't like and less of the vegetables that you like.


You can use other brands of juicers.  There are a lot of juicers in the market - brands such as Jack LalanneLadyship, Omega, etc. Each juicer has its own features.  Personally, I prefer the Breville Juicer because of its functionality and ease of use.
